Renaissance: A Series of Poetry to Paintings is my 2025 BFA thesis exhibition that reimagines powerful Black poetry across time, spanning the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Arts Movement, and contemporary voices, into large-scale figurative paintings. Each piece interprets a selected poem through color, composition, and symbolism, translating written language into visual narratives that reflect themes of identity, resilience, faith, and womanhood. The exhibition centers the lived experiences of Black individuals, especially Black women, drawing on historical and cultural memory to bridge literature and painting in a deeply personal and communal visual dialogue.
